These comparisons are built from manufacturer specifications, owner's manuals, university extension publications and published independent tests, each linked on the page. Unless a page says otherwise, we did not test the products ourselves. Each card names the number that decides the choice.

Battery vs Gas String Trimmers: The Noise Limit and Running-Cost Math

Compares the EGO ST1623T, Milwaukee M18 FUEL, STIHL FS 91 R and ECHO SRM-2620T using manufacturer specs, owner's manuals and published tests. Runs noise figures through the NIOSH exposure limit and works out cost per hour.

What decides it: The deciding number is 48 minutes. STIHL's manual lists 95 dB(A) for the FS 91 R, and NIOSH's 85 dBA limit with a 3 dB exchange rate allows about 48 minutes a day at that level. Running cost is about $1.37* per tank of mixed fuel against about $0.04 per battery charge.

Best Mowers for Bermuda Grass 2026: Below 1 Inch, Only a Reel Mower Qualifies

Compiles the minimum cutting height of six reel and rotary mowers from manufacturer specs and sets them against NC State, Clemson and UGA extension mowing guidance.

What decides it: The deciding number is 1 inch. NC State and Clemson say bermuda mowed below 1 inch needs a reel mower. UGA recommends 1 to 1.5 inches for hybrid bermuda lawns, which the Honda HRX217VKA (3/4 inch minimum) and EGO LM2135SP (1 inch) can reach.

Robotic Mowers for Slopes Compared (2026): The Headline Slope Rating Is Not the One at Your Lawn Edge

A research-based comparison of six slope and acreage robotic mowers, built from manufacturer spec pages checked in September 2026, including the lower boundary and working slope limits some brands publish.

What decides it: Husqvarna rates the Automower 435X AWD for 70% (35 degrees) inside the lawn but 50% (26.6 degrees) at the boundary wire. If your steepest ground runs to a fence or property line, the lower figure is the one that applies.

Yarbo Lawn Mower Review vs Lawn Mower Pro (2026): 150W vs 300W on the Same Core

A research comparison of the standard Yarbo and the Pro from cited sources: the cutting-motor difference, the charge-cycle math behind the acreage rating, and the real cost of upgrading later.

What decides it: Seek & Score reports about 0.25 acre per charge, so a 6.2-acre rating is roughly 25 charge cycles for one full cut, about 37.5 hours on the dock at Yarbo's 90-minute recharge. Buying the standard ($4,999*) and adding the Pro module ($2,299*) costs $1,299* more than the Pro at $5,999*.

Organic vs Synthetic Fertilizer: A Milorganite Bag Carries Half the Nitrogen, and Its Phosphate Is Restricted in Some States

Label math on Milorganite 6-4-0 against Scotts Turf Builder 32-0-4: nitrogen per bag, cost per pound of nitrogen, and where state phosphorus and blackout-date rules change the answer.

What decides it: A 32 lb Milorganite bag holds 1.92 lb of nitrogen against 4.0 lb in a 12.5 lb Scotts Turf Builder bag. At the same shelf price, Milorganite nitrogen costs about 2.1 times as much. Maryland also restricts phosphorus on established lawns and bans lawn fertilizer from November 15 to March 1.
