Navimow i2 AWD Review (i206 & i210): The $999 Navimow That Out-Slopes the $1,599 One

The row in the manual that changes the buying decision

Navimow publishes one slope number for consumers: 45%, or 24°. It appears on the product page, on both Amazon listings, and on the retail box. It is accurate — and it is only half of what the engineering documents say.

Section 2.3 of each machine's user manual lists two incline limits, not one:

• Max. Incline Inside Working Area — the grade the mower will work in open lawn.
• Max. Incline at Boundary — the grade it will work where the mapped edge of a zone runs.

For the i2 AWD (manual rev 260109-A), both numbers read 45%. For the i215 LiDAR (manual rev 260129-A), the interior figure is 45% but the boundary figure is 25% — a little over 14°.

That gap matters because of how residential slopes are actually shaped. Grade in a suburban lot rarely stops obligingly a few feet short of the property line; it runs out to the fence, the retaining wall, the sidewalk, the neighbour's hedge. Those are precisely the places a mapped boundary sits. On a lot like that, the boundary figure is the number that governs whether the machine can do the job — and by that measure the $999 i206 AWD is specified for terrain the $1,599 i215 LiDAR is not.

None of this is hidden, exactly. It is just never stated anywhere a buyer would look.

i206 or i210? It is a battery decision, and only a battery decision

Most product lines differentiate by hardware tier. This one does not, and the manual makes that unusually easy to confirm. Across the two SKUs the following are identical: dimensions (21.4 × 15.1 × 11.2 in), cutting width (7.1 in), cutting height (2–3.6 in), sound power and pressure (59 / 51 dB(A)), IP rating (IP66 mower and dock, IP67 adapter), slope rating (45% interior and boundary), blade motor speed (2,500/min), drive system, navigation stack, and obstacle detection.

What differs is the battery and everything that follows from it:

• i206 AWD — $999. 2.55 Ah / 55 Wh. About 60 minutes of mowing, about 60 minutes to recharge. Rated 0.15 acre. 26.56 lbs.
• i210 AWD — $1,299. 5.1 Ah / 110 Wh. About 120 minutes of mowing, about 120 minutes to recharge. Rated 0.25 acre. 27.12 lbs.

Note the symmetry: runtime doubles and charge time doubles, so the work-to-charge ratio is unchanged. The i210 is not a faster machine, it is a longer-legged one. Buy on lawn area alone — if your lawn is genuinely under 0.15 acre, the extra $300 buys headroom you will not use.

The number that sets expectations: 0.03 acre per hour

Both SKUs are rated at the same cutting rate, and it is worth doing the arithmetic before you buy. The i206 covers roughly 1,307 sq ft per 60-minute charge against a rated lawn of 6,534 sq ft — about five charge cycles for one full pass. The i210 covers roughly 2,614 sq ft per 120-minute charge against 10,890 sq ft — about four cycles.

With recharge time counted, full coverage on either machine is a multi-day job running on a schedule. That is entirely normal for the category, and it is the correct way to run a robotic mower — little and often, keeping the lawn permanently at height rather than catching up on a Saturday. But buyers who expect an afternoon's work are reliably disappointed, and the 7.1-inch deck makes this line slower per pass than most of its price peers.

The real trade against the i215 LiDAR

Having argued that the AWD out-slopes the LiDAR at the boundary, here is the honest other side: the AWD's navigation is the more fragile of the two.

The i2 AWD runs EFLS NRTK — tri-frequency Network RTK fused with vision. Network RTK means satellite correction delivered over the cellular network, and it means the machine's positioning is contingent on Network RTK service existing at your address. Navimow includes that access and the cellular data at no extra cost, and puts a postcode coverage checker directly on the product page. Use it before you order; it is the single most consequential pre-purchase check for this model.

The i215 LiDAR removes that dependency entirely by building its map from onboard LiDAR and cameras. That is why it is the answer for heavy tree canopy and for yards where satellite fixes historically fail — and why it is the answer for night mowing without qualification.

So the decision between the two i2 machines is not price-tier. It is:

• Is your problem traction? Slopes, ruts, roots, uneven stone paths, grade running to the fence line → i2 AWD.
• Is your problem positioning? Tree cover, tight sightlines, no Network RTK at your address, night runs → i215 LiDAR.

Obstacle detection also differs, though less decisively: 150+ object types on the AWD against 200+ at 0.4-inch precision on the LiDAR. Both are far ahead of bump-sensor machines.

Who this mower is — and isn't — for

The i2 AWD is the right machine for you if:

• Your lot is sloped, and the slope reaches the edges. This is the case the i2 AWD uniquely serves in Navimow's sub-acre lineup.
• Your ground is uneven — tree roots, stone paths, 1.57-inch steps. AWD with 9.8-inch off-road wheels plus ESC and traction control is built for exactly this.
• Your lawn is 0.15 acre (i206) or 0.25 acre (i210) and Network RTK covers your address.
• You want antenna-free setup at the lowest price Navimow offers it.
• You care about turf damage — the rear-wheel-coordinated zero-turn steering is specifically designed to pivot without scuffing, which cheap differential-turn mowers do not manage.

Skip the i2 AWD if:

• Network RTK does not reach you. Check the postcode tool first; if it fails, this machine is not an option and the i215 LiDAR is.
• You have significant tree canopy. Vision fusion helps, but LiDAR is the real answer.
• You need sub-2-inch cutting for bermuda or zoysia — the floor here is 2 inches.
• You want the widest deck for the money. At 7.1 inches this is the narrowest cut in our sub-acre slate.

The case for

Genuine AWD traction at $999 with no antenna to site, and the only machine in Navimow's sub-acre range that keeps its full 45% slope rating at the mapped boundary. Zero-turn steering that is engineered not to tear turf. 9.8-inch off-road wheels and 1.57-inch step clearance for root-covered and uneven ground. Adaptive rear wheel that engages only under load, claimed to extend runtime up to 30%. Network RTK access and cellular data included at no cost. Twenty zones with isolated-zone mapping. IP66, 3-year mower warranty, 59 dB(A). Sold through Navimow.com, Amazon and Home Depot.

The case against

A 7.1-inch cutting width unchanged from the previous generation, and the narrowest in this tier — more passes for the same ground. A hard dependency on Network RTK coverage that can disqualify the machine outright depending on your address. 150+ obstacle types rather than the i215's 200+. A 2-inch cutting floor that rules out low-cut warm-season lawns. Roughly four to five charge cycles to cover the rated area. And we have not had one in our hands — this review is built from manufacturer documentation and retail listings, and is labelled research-only accordingly.
